Behind every CoolApe purchase is a commitment to real conservation. That commitment is made possible through our partnership with the Ape Alliance — one of the world's most respected coalitions working to protect great apes and their habitats.
What Is the Ape Alliance?
The Ape Alliance is an international coalition of over 50 organisations and individuals united by a single goal: the conservation and welfare of apes worldwide. Founded in 1996, the Alliance brings together NGOs, scientists, educators, and advocates to coordinate action, share knowledge, and amplify the voice of ape conservation on the global stage.
Their work spans gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos, orangutans, and gibbons — all of which face serious threats from habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade, and the climate crisis.
Ian Redmond OBE — A Living Legend of Conservation
At the heart of the Ape Alliance is Ian Redmond OBE, one of the world's foremost wildlife biologists and conservationists. Ian studied under Dian Fossey in Rwanda in the 1970s and has dedicated his life to protecting great apes ever since.
It was Ian who photographed Titus the silverback gorilla in 1994 — a portrait that became one of the most iconic images in conservation history, and the inspiration for one of our most beloved CoolApe designs. Ian kindly gave his permission for us to use this photograph, and we are deeply grateful for his trust and support.
How Your Purchase Makes a Difference
A percentage of every CoolApe sale is directed to support the Ape Alliance's conservation work. This funding helps:
- Protect gorilla habitats in Central and East Africa
- Support anti-poaching efforts and community ranger programmes
- Fund research into great ape behaviour and ecology
- Educate local communities about the importance of ape conservation
- Advocate for stronger international wildlife protection policies
When you wear CoolApe, you're not just making a fashion statement. You're joining a global movement to ensure that great apes — our closest living relatives — have a future on this planet.
Thank you for being part of it.
