We have a long-awaited Imfura update AND some big news!

This past Sunday, the field team following Musilikale's group spotted the lone silverback Imfura, who is now 17 years old. He was in great physical condition and was not far from the group.

Interestingly, he was making hooting vocalizations, which we believe could have been heard by the gorillas in Musilikale's group, but there was no apparent response. Two of the group's silverbacks were seen near him, possibly to prevent him from approaching further.

Last October, when he left Pablo's group, he temporarily formed a group with two females from Musilikale's group. After a few weeks, the females left him and joined Pablo's group. He has been alone since then.

The fact that he was near Musilikale's group could suggest another attempt to attract females. Regardless, this time he did not succeed.

🚨 And now, we have some big news: due to popular request, Imfura is now available for symbolic adoption! 🤗

Your adoption supports Imfura's protection and the future legacy he may one day create. 🦍

Why Stories Like Imfura's Matter

Mountain gorillas like Imfura are among the most closely monitored wildlife on Earth — and for good reason. With fewer than 1,100 remaining in the wild, every individual's movements, health, and social behaviour are tracked by dedicated researchers at the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Imfura's journey as a lone silverback is a reminder of how complex and deeply social gorilla life truly is.

At CoolApe, we celebrate gorillas like Imfura through our wildlife-inspired organic clothing wildlife-inspired organic clothing. Every purchase of our organic t-shirts, hoodiesaccessories and accessories directly supports great ape conservation.
